Coarse salt has a larger grain than most salts and generally is referring to sea salt or kosher salt. The rising popularity of coarse salt is that it is considered more flavorful than even regular sea salt. This coarse sea salt is harvested in California and it is the only commercially produced sea salt in the US.
This coarse sea salt does not include any caking agents. Coarse sea salt is typically not a good substitute for any baking recipe that calls for sea salt as the larger flakes cause flavor bursts in the baked dishes which distracts from the recipe.
One ounce hand packed in bag.
