Tea, Sleep Herbal Ayurvedic Infusion

Ayurveda enlightens us about the three doshas which play a vital role in keeping one’s body in balance. There are three types of sleep deficiencies in Ayurveda. As the One's mental state commonly presents itself as a restless mind, creating an inability to fall into a deep sleep, which can be counteracted with soothing lavender.* Alternatively, one's ability to recover from sleep; often times leaving one feeling lethargic and groggy after a full night's rest, which is best counteracted with chamomile.* Lastly, imbalances that are more emotional in nature, but tend to present themselves biologically while interrupting sleep with symptoms that may include hot flashes, which can be avoided with the use of cooling gotu kola.*
- Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil.
- Add 2 grams (approx 1-2 teaspoons) of tea to a infuser, or straight into an 8-oz. mug.
- Pour the heated water into the mug.
- Steep for 5-7 minutes.
- Strain tea leaves, or take out the infuser.
- Sip and enjoy.
